Our Heritage

Our Heritage: From Morris’ Choice (1793) to Ringold Valley Trading (2025)

For more than two centuries, our story has been rooted in Maryland soil.
In 1793, Samuel Morris, Jr. recorded the original family land deed on goatskin parchment for a tract known as “Morris’ Choice.” That land—carved from the rolling hills of northern Baltimore County—became the foundation of a legacy defined by craftsmanship, stewardship, and community.

Nearly two centuries later, in 1970, the Morris family formally incorporated Morris Meadows Recreation Farm Inc., transforming generations of farmland into a gathering place for families across Maryland. For over forty years, Morris Meadows carried forward the family’s spirit of hospitality, heritage, and open-air living—values that remain at the heart of everything we do today.

Now, that lineage continues uninterrupted through Ringold Valley Trading Company, founded in 2025 by the seventh-generation Morris, Joshua R. Morris. Through Ringold Valley Trading, the enduring principles of integrity, artistry, and stewardship live on—and find new expression in curated goods that celebrate authenticity and tradition.

Today, this legacy is not only preserved but carried forward by the next generationLilly, Grace, Brady, and Noah Morris—ensuring that the spirit of Morris’ Choice (1793), Morris Meadows Recreation Farm (1970), and Ringold Valley Trading Company (2025) continues to thrive for generations to come.
